Search Optimization
Sure, everybody
says they can do it. Just send them a few thousand dollars a
month and they'll spam the search engines for you. Trust us,
that doesn't work. You're just throwing good money after bad.
Repeat
submissions to search engines is not likely to work unless
you've done all the others stuff right. The other stuff is more
than finding the right keywords -- it's building good
search-engine robot and human readable content (and good content
is not flashing pictures!).
When it comes to Search Engine Optimization,
three principals apply:
-
If
you start with a
search-engine friendly website design and clean coding, search engines
will find your website.
-
A poorly designed website will never rank
highly regardless of how many keywords you stuff into your meta
tags or how much money you pay for search optimization
software or services.
-
A search friendly website will often rise to the top in its key
search terms on its own merits.
We want every website we design to be on page
one of its targeted keywords, so we design "search
friendly" into every website we create. We do this by making
our website cake from scratch -- we measure the flour (words),
sugar (images), eggs (coding), and milk (linkage) twice, and
bake the cake into just the right shape before we coat the
surface with icing (that intangible thing that says this website
is not your ordinary cookie)! We don't use templates that look like
every other website out there. We don't try to plug round
content into too-small square holes. We analyze each project
before we start building -- the nature of the business, the content (images and text)
that will go into the website, the results expected from the
site -- and then we build it from scratch.
When we're done building, we fiddle it a little
to make sure the
content is easy on human eyes and the coding is organized so
that it is easy for search engine
robots to follow and index. We read carefully and pay attention to the
latest webmaster guidance provided by
Google, Yahoo, and MSN and make sure we do everything they say
the want and we try not to do anything to annoy them
or prevent them from indexing our web pages. We do that first,
then after a website is operational and fully tested, we submit
it to the major search
engines. Once they find it, usually in a week or two, we
tweak content as necessary to improve search ranking.
We'd
love to promise you instantaneous results, but we can't. And neither
can anyone else if they're telling you the truth. But most of
our websites find their way to the first page of search results for the
targeted keywords in a few months time with just a little
fiddling every now
and then.
If you now
have a website that nobody can find, send us an email. We'll look it
over, provide you with some concrete ideas on how to improve your website's search engine
ranking, and if you want us to do the work, give you a bid. If
you haven't yet built your website, tell us what you want, then
let us build it right from the start. Contact
